Florence and the Machine – Only if for A Night

Things are busy. I am a few days and a few modifications off finishing my final major project on my father’s home business’ website, meaning I’ll get to stop working for him. This makes me happier than anything. Sooner or later I’ll need a proper job but MAN this is good news. I have also been accepted into University. I’ll be going to the University of Technology (Sydney), to study a bachelor in Interior and Spatial Design. Excited as hell. I got my first preference at the university I’ve wanted to be at since I was 12. I have friends in that course too so I’m excited.

What else? Been going out, the above photos are from Friday night. I’ve cut my hair too, again. Clearly I need to fix my roots but I’m avoiding further damaging my hair from all the times I dyed it last year.

I’m also getting back into sketching, and hope to get a few online sooner or later. My current trend thing is so mash-up old sketches so who knows. Might get a little collection going.

    Exciting life and times.

    Awkward – San Cisco

That, my friends, is a photo Chrystal took during the last song played by the Arctic Monkeys at the Enmore Theatre on Friday. Yep, that was bolded because MY GOD seeing them was such a big deal. Their show was so so so good, their setlist was full of great classics (Crying Lightning, I Bet That You Looked Good on the Dancefloor, Teddy Picker, Fluorescent Adolescent, Brianstorm), and all my favourites from the new record (Black Treacle, The Hellcat Spangled Shalalala, She’s Thunderstorms). Alex is incredible live, don’t let anyone tell you any different. They’re actually an incredibly talented group – Miles Kane made some fun appearances in there too. The only mildly annoying thing was where we were standing – it was close enough (whenever you take photos at concerts it always seems like you’re so much further away than you are) but to our left were couples constantly making out, and to our right were a collection of 5 or 6 40 year olds trying to re-live their youth and open a moshpit.

Basically, there is a reason why I love this band so much. They were so amazing.

Count your Bruises – The Flatliners

That is probably one of the best songs I’ve been listening to lately. SO good.

How have we been passing the time leading into the new year? Work, a lot (working for your Dad isn’t nearly as fun as you’d hope it would be). Or going out every odd night and meeting everyone named Luke Wilson in Sydney (I met two, at the same bar, exactly a week apart. It’s just weird). Or watching American Horror Story well into the night.

Or going on cute outings with Chrystal. We went to the markets this weekend and she bought me the most beautiful (faux) fur jacket as a belated birthday gift. The amount of jokes about me looking like a polar bear in it and thus part of Polar Bear Club… I’m a menace. But its gorgeous. Nothing gets better than fur in the summer, accompanied by vegan nachos and apple and mint frappes. I’ve hoarded a lot of fun clothes over the past few weeks so I’ll have to do a post all about that, too. So many gems.

This new year is being wonderful so far. They say this is the best summer of your life (post high school graduation, just before university claims my soul) and to be honest, it really is.
