System of a Down – Chop Suey!

I’ve never been friends with Sunday. I’m currently on a self-appointed “lunch break” – today is dedicated to study for Maths. See, on Thursday I have a maths exam. Not cool. Last day of term before 2 weeks holidays. Its also the day of my History exam too, which I’m yet to even study for. I’m just praying Jess can help me with that one.

Besides all that, yesterday I finally went to Broadway in the City. I actually love that mall, and practically was there every day last school holidays, and hadn’t been since them, so yeah. Its weird when you have a connection like that to a place, but whatever. Dillan was dragged/went with me & we saw Get Him To The Greek – not my usual kind of film (I’m not usually big on the whole Jonah Hill/Seth Rogen kind of film [even if Seth Rogen is kind of hot now that he's thin]) but it was alright. Good laughs. Crude laughs, but laughs none the less. I really got tired of the whole emotional sub-plot (spoiler! The lonely, depressed rock’n'roll star who has everything but loves no one is a really overdone and ridiculous plot. /spoiler), it usually annoys me a lot when a film which is basically comedy tries to also be deep and meaningful, its just out of place; I wanted Russel Brand to do something stupid, not try to teach me to respect fans or some shit. Whatever. Its not the worst film I’d seen, and it did make me laugh a lot, so its alright. Tom Felton looked so fit in it, and the surprise!Foxboro Hot Tubs was GREAT, so yeah.

Like always, the rest of the day was spent faffing about. I bought the new IdN magazine (International designers Network), which I won’t let myself read until after exams, but it looks SO GOOD. I think its going to be another magazine which I’ll start collecting; I get Computer Arts on subscription every month, buy Empire magazine every month too, I’m planning on buying No every release too – good thing it only comes out quarterly haha. So now I’ll have four magazines… I’m actually going to save up to buy an Empire subscription, cos I’ll save about 25% if I subscribe, so it ends up cheaper. Just gotta somehow find $45. I am so unbelievably poor now, I often don’t have enough change to eat. Its kind of ridiculous. But meh. Starving artist or some shit.

My mind has not been in the present lately. Its full of things I want to do in the holidays, things I want to achieve soon, even contemplating the past & things like that. This is really bad considering my pending exams. I’m actually not that stressed about maths cos I actually know a lot of the theory, I just gotta practise. And then I feel really guilty if I’m not practising linear functions, but looking up magazine subscriptions or thinking of new layouts or thinking of what I want to do over the holidays or whatever. I mean, you need balance and can’t always studystudystudy (contrary to my fathers beliefs), but I still feel like I should be, even if I know I’ll go insane if I do. These are going to be a tough couple of days, eh? Jesus…

I should go back to studying. I keep reminding myself that this time next week, I would’ve finished my exams, be relaxing and working (possibly) on this site, chilling to new tunes (again, something I’m depriving myself of until after exams) & cheerful. Well, I better be at any rate. All this stress better count for something.

Jonathan Boulet – Ones Who Fly Twos Who Die

Yes, I’m listening to a track of the World Cup soundtrack (its actually purely coincidental, mind). I’ve decided this year I’m completely supporting Netherlands. Won BOTH their games. This is good news.

This past week has been quite shit, actually. I mean, Monday threw me – it was a public holiday (so no school), but Dad woke me up at 4am with the football (even though Australia miserably lost – not that I care, obviously), so I’d had 3 hours sleep. The whole day was mental, I took myself bra shopping, then strolled around the streets for no obvious reason, and then re-did the posters on my wall. Other than that, though, its just been school & coming home and studying & Dailybooth-ing and Tumblr-ing. There has actually been a strange rise in social networking amongst the people I know, like I’ve had a tumblr since November and now kids at school are getting them. Taken ‘em long enough, I guess Facebook isn’t enough. Whatever. To end a perfectly drainingly boring week, we had Supanova, which kind of made up for the bollocks prior to it.

So basically, Supanova is this giant, annual pop culture expo, full of stuff like Cosplay, comic books, sci-fi stuff, video games, technology demos, cool things like that. I went last year with Chris, had a blast, so naturally I went again this year. It actually worked out really well, cos I went in with Dillan at about 12ish (by the time we go there), and a few friends of mine had been in the line to get in since like, 10, so we got to chime in with them (even if these friends were awkward, and I have no idea who the hell they ended up talking to in the line, but one of the guys had this awesome punk vest (y’know, with the studs and band logos [Op Ivy, Rancid, Misfits, etc] which I wanted to steal)). Once we got in, Dillan & I split off & looked around at everything (about 10 thousand times, too). He bought a bunch of stuff (as in a lot of stuff), I got a Nobel Collection Time Turner, which is basically gorgeous and my favourite thing I own right now. But yeah, it was a pretty good day in all, I mean, I did manage to spill my coffee down my front (typical), and my back really killed by the end of the day for whatever reason, and I didn’t take any photos which I seriously regret, but I totally enjoyed myself and glad I went.

Y’know, its funny, cos mostly when people are enjoying themselves, they’re loud & animated & really obviously enjoying themselves. I’m not like that like, at all. Its probably the worst thing about me, because I look bored all the time, even when I’m not. When I’m out, it can actually be really hard to be bored, cos I can just sit there doing nothing for hours and be absolutely content, even if I don’t look it. I don’t know. I guess I just worry people get annoyed with me for always looking so bored. I worry too much.

So what now? I’m chillin’ in my room, in PJ’s that I didn’t wear to bed (go figure), trying to sort out what to do for the rest of my day. Sunday’s are always really boring for me. I don’t really mind, though, cos sometimes you just need days to surf the ‘net and drink coffee and get inspired. I need to study for my Maths exam which is in a week and a half, and there is a lot of pressure to do well (or at least better than last exam) this time, so that’s almost always on my mind. Tom Felton Online and R-Grint have both gone to good homes, which is great. I might try and work on some pre-made layouts soon, but I just need to ask which coding would you guys prefer; standard php (header, index, footer & css) or wordpress themes?

Wow this is a long blog. Sorry, pmsl.

Girls Night Out – The Knife

The one thing I know about blogging is that its a bad idea to do so when you’re pissed off. But alas, I’m doing this anyway.

Yesterday Dillan & I saw The A-Team! I know, yeah, all the two of us really do is just go watch films, but I’m cool with it. I like films, and The A-Team was too good not to see. Sharlto Copley’s Murdoch was actually laugh-out-loud funny, which shouldn’t be surprising because Sharlto’s actually kind of amazing. I mean, I never watched the show, so I don’t know the characters or the original depictions of them, but Neeson/Copley/Cooper/Jackson were all really good in their roles. And of course the direction was pretty good – the story line did all blur up at points, and I’m not too big of a fan of the idea of merging the two scenes of describing a plan, and the plan playing out – although I have a feeling that could possibly be a homage to the original TV show (but then again, I didn’t watch it, so I don’t know). But all in all, it was a good film & I think people should definitely go see it.

The rest of Saturday was pretty nice, too. We hung around in the city, going to odd shops and comic book stores and eating cookies in parks and stuff. I don’t know, I don’t even care what we do, I just like spending time with him, y’know? Besides, it was the same night as Lucy’s going away party. Not like I was invited or whatever, nor was Sophia, Chris or Smell (Melanie – yeah, that’s her nickname. Not cos she smells, though). I mean, its a pretty bitchy thing for her to do – invite everyone in our “group” except us 4 (when its obvious that A) we’d find out about the party and B) other people would find out that we weren’t invited) & still invite people she doesn’t really know. But whatever. I don’t like Lucy at all anyway, so I wouldn’t have gone if I were invited.

Blah blah blah high school drama so boring blah blah

Moving on from that, haha. New layout! The last one had been up for like, 2 months of something. Crazy! I’m not sure how much I like this layout – I think I’m happy with the coding but not so much with the header graphic, so we’ll see how this goes. If I can make one I like more, I’ll change it. I also put up my two fansites for adoption, which was kind of hard to do, because I have a feeling that I’ll probably want them back later, but its for the better. I don’t update them and someone else might as well, y’know? Hopefully, then, I’ll be able to work just on here to make it even better. The other day I posted two new icon colourings which I’d been meaning to do, which is cool I guess. I’m trying to figure out what exactly I want to do with this place, because as much as I love PS graphics and stuff, its very very different to graphic design, which is something I’m much more interested in. And the kind of blogs I usually read are fashion blogs with a very different blogging nature to here, so I don’t know. We’ll see what I conclude on, I guess.

Speaking of which, TYB is a year old today! So I suppose the new layout is quite timely haha.

What else… I’m trying to think of anything that’s happened, and not much. Life’s not every exciting right now. Involves a lot of blisters on my heels. Which sucks. Nothing too exciting is coming up, either. Well, holidays in about 3 weeks. Which I can & can’t wait for; a lot of free time will be nice, time to see Dillan & that, but Dad is always home and he’ll make sure every second spent in his presence involves me studying. He’s not very happy with me right now. I think its cos I exist, I mean, everything I’ve done today has pissed him off so whatever.

I’m, yeah, not going to continue this blog or I’ll rant on and on and thats boring. But yeah, and also, I’m now on DailyBooth! Leave your usernames & I’ll follow you. Woo!
