Rolex Sweep (Vandalism Mix) – Skepta

Rules of blogging; don’t blog when you’re angry, depressed, overjoyed, or apathetic. I always break my own rules.

Just so we’re clear, I’m currently rather apathetic. I’m irrationally tired. Its been an interesting week; Tuesday was back to school. I mean, yeah, its all right. We’ve been getting a lot of test results back, and I’ve done so surprisingly well in everything (92% & 100% for maths so far, 90% on my Othello essay and 93% on my History test) which is really really ace. I also had a History report due in Tuesday which I’d done over the holidays, and a speech which I gave on Wednesday. I’ve also finished Software last term which is due this Friday, and Art which is due Friday after next. Though I do have a speech due Wednesday after next for English (on This Is England – its honestly the best related protest text I could find, so much to write about) and then a Geography report in 3 weeks.

Seems like a lot. That was more of a list for me to say to put things in perspective, so ignore me.

Speaking of perspective, saw Inception yesterday. This is probably one of the most incredible films I have seen. Not just because I loved it to pieces, but because it was such a piece of art. It was beautifully made, directed, produced… all ‘film’ aspects were divine. The actors performances (namely Joseph Gordon Levitt and Marion Cotillard) were all top notch. But seriously, SPOILER warning. This was a really plot heavy film, a film which you can have hour long conversations about (which is what I’m doing with Samantha right now). It got really confusing at times, like you’d need to take a break for a second to figure out where you are in the film, but it worked. Especially the parts where they actually try inception, the reminder of the layers with the car & Arthur & Eames & then Cobb was done really really well. The mixing of reality and dreams was the scrambling beauty of the film. As with the ending, I was reading this (basically outlines how Cobb’s ring was his totem, not the top, and how because he wasn’t wearing it at the end, it was reality) and that’s actually made perfect sense to me, so I’m going with that. After I saw the film, I actually did think that Cobb was in his reality, and that Nolan just didn’t show the top falling over. I figured because in their canon, projections in dreams were from your subconscious, so faces you’ve seen, people you’ve known. Cobb had never met Ariadne before he asked her to be the Architect, he was even introduced to her, so she’s a completely foreign figure. So, how could they have interacted if it wasn’t reality? As with Robert Fischer, Jr. and Browning. But throw that into the mix with the fact that the top wasn’t even his totem, it was Mals, makes it clear that his ring HAD to be his totem, therefore the ending reality.

Well, that’s just my rambling at any rate.

But yeah, that took up a part of Saturday. Saturday was actually complete shambles. Trains were out, & we had to figure out the night cos it was Nick’s birthday gathering (for lack of better term). After we saw the film, I had to get flipping changed in a back alley in the city, then met up with Nick and some guy (James, I think he was. I don’t know, he just looked SO much like Joe Jonas, so I referred to him as that), and then find Elisha and Maddy. And then they wanted Maccas, so they did (Australians; seriously, how good is the Apple Fanta slushie thing from there?!). Then we walked for what must’ve been like, 500 years (30 mins?) to find this park, which we chilled in for a bit. Then a bunch of people from my “group” from school came, though I didn’t spend a lot of time with them (Maddy & I needed to use the loo, so we spent like an hour searching for loo’s with Joe Jonas and Dillan), and they soon left once we returned. So it was the 6 of us, some guy came on his bike for half an hour but he left soon too. So it was kind of a “fail party” by terms, but it was actually still alright. I think it would have been better if it were just the 6 of us, but y’know. I guess it was just nice being out & with people & stuff. Something different, its nice.

Anyway, this is really long and I should probably do some more school work or something, I don’t know. I talk too much.

    Lasso – Phoenix

Today is technically the last day of my holidays. Well, our school has tomorrow off for staff development or something, so we still have a day. But still.

The second week has been a lot better than the first. Well, some bits were. Of course some nights did get ridiculously depressing, sitting up watching girly films like Penelope or (believe it or not) Spice World, but I also did a whole bunch of other things, like website stuff or whatever. Actually come to think of it I can’t remember much, every day seemed to blur into one. Monday I don’t remember a thing of, like, period. Could have never even happened, according to my memory. Tuesday I went over to Dillan’s and we finished up Misfits and watched Wanted – I seriously don’t care, I love that film. Wednesday could have also not existed, I think I did school work that day (finished up my work on Auschwitz for History. Awwwessommee). Thursday went over to Dillan’s again, watched the IT Crowd (Season 1, always fun) & South Park, and then Friday was another day that’s blurred in my memory. Well, kind of, Mum went out to some dinner so I chilled with my brother eating pizza and napping… such a hip Friday night, huh?!

Saturday… do I even need to explain? We all know what I did. Dillan and I went into the city, saw a film & then faffed about in various KFC’s and candy stores. We saw Knight and Day – not usually my kind of film, but it was Dillan’s pick so. I wasn’t expecting anything of the film, other than a few laughs and some guns, so I was actually a bit surprised by the film. Spoilers – just sayin’. But yeah, it was actually a surprisingly manipulative film, the audience were lead to believe Roy, then the cops, then Roy, then the cops, and so on. This kept the audience engaged, and for a film which managed to engage the audience through manipulation and not something lame like sexual tension, it surprised me. All these “romaction” films are all about the same thing, and the fact that the battery plot was strong enough to distract the audience (or me, at least, and I’m the biggest romantic cynic alive) from the romantic chemistry or cheap humour means that the film wasn’t personally too big of a waste of time.

Oh look at me, getting all film-review on your arse. You enjoyed it, you dirty bastard.

Yeah, the rest of the day was our normal shenanigans. Managed to buy more chocolate from this store in the city, it sells international candy, meaning it sells UK and American candy (amongst others). So I naturally got some UK Cadbury (after Jess informed me that it was different to ours) which was divine – seriously. I think I should invest in more chocolate from there and have myself a secret stash! haha

Anyway, today is Sunday and for the first time in forever, I did something. Normally Sundays I do nothing (mainly cos Dillan works) but today I hung out with Chris & Smell (Melanie). We only went to the mall up the road, but I love it there so whatever. We sat outside the front of it under the trees where all the old men go, and I can understand why they all sit there, its actually really nice. We also did some other interesting things… I bought this AWESOME mug I’ll have to show you for only $2, and an Iron Man chest plate which I keep playing with. We also played ping pong in the sports section (they had the tables set out, we kind of had to) and bought a bunch of Mountain Dew, Dorritoes and salsa and nommed in a park. Seriously, today was so nice weather wise – I don’t care if I sound like a grandma, but it was nice and cool, sun came out to play so it was lovely in the shade, slight breeze, a really nice day to be outside. Although I do have a mosquito bite now which I didn’t even think was possible in winter, but whatever.

I don’t think I’m prepared for school to start again. I don’t like the real world. And its this whole dreading of school again which makes me hate holidays. But we’ll live through it, I guess.

I just do things a little different

The Twang – Took The Fun

According to my weather extension on Firefox, its 20°C/68°F out. That’s actually the warmest that its been in SO long. For the past week its been tops of say 15°C/59°F and wet. Not cool.

Anyway, its been the holidays. Which is cool (in both senses, I guess haha). Monday I went over to Dillan’s & we watched the first 4 episodes of Misfits – I’m making him watch it cos I love that show more than myself, but he did say it was cool so I don’t think he minds it too much haha. We were meant to finish it but he got pretty sick over the past few days, so we couldn’t. It was really shitty that a whole week of his was lost, but it was all good (for me at least) cos on Tuesday, my best friend Jess (who lives 2/3 hours away) had come up for a visit. We didn’t get long together, and we were only in the local shopping mall, but my god do I love her and it was brilliant catching up. We bought a bunch of magazines (as in I got 3 – Empire, i-D and NO) and sat in the park and chilled and ate (well she did, I ran out of money haha) and it was really great, only she had to leave early which wasn’t so great. But as it turned out, my other friends Shivani and Naomi were in the shopping complex too, so I saw them & ended up hanging out with them. They were looking for clothes for some goth-themed party, so I helped them all I could. We even randomly went into the city for a bit, which mixed things up a little haha. I don’t know, it was nice being with them, we had a lot of interesting discussions.

What else happened in the past week? Not much, Wednesday I spent relaxing, Thursday the same – although I did go to the hairdressers (very little change, just a few multicoloured (as in blonde, red and black) highlights/lowlights in my hair – very subtle though so you can hardly tell I’d been). Friday I did homework for a bit (1000 word report on the liberation of Auschwitz… depressing) and then more relaxing. And so you know, relaxing = IT Crowd, basically. I watched the new stuff the other day (as in, Season 4 EP 1 & 2) and I’m loving it so far. Shows like the IT Crowd are really good because you don’t have too dramatic plot changes that you’re going to dislike (although if Douglass goes, I’ll be upset), so its always a good laugh. And just cos I’m a girl and I have to say, Roy’s hair looked a lot better a bit longer, like in Season 2. Just sayin’.

Also, it’d be against my school-break tradition to not have seen a film, so yesterday Dillan & I (who else? pmsl) saw Predators. To be honest, I was never particularly interested in seeing that film, it never really stood out as a film I needed to see, but I went anyway and was pleasantly surprised. I mean, there were downfalls (SPOILERS! predictable storyline, very little plot resolve, a soundtrack which was over-dramatic and out of place /end spoilers), but besides that it was enjoyable enough to watch. Adrien Brody and Topher Grace were GREAT to watch, Topher particularly because he’s not only great in general, but because his character had the most going for him (doesn’t mean I necessarily liked the character personally, but theatrically he was the most interesting to watch).

Oh and we were in Cinema 3 again. Just like we were for The Losers and Robin Hood and The Hurt Locker. 4 times in that theatre that year…

Anyway, long blog is long. Also, I think I should say something about the name thing, so; firstly, thanks everyone for being so understanding and not bitching at me for it, really makes life easier, you’re all incredibly lovely. Secondly, everythings officially changed to “Jess” now, so I’ll be using that, however can still call me Cassie all you wish. Besides, in a few weeks we’ll all forget about it & be used to it. Life does that.

Oh & I changed my twitter username. Follow @1069798 if you’re not already!
