I can’t even function with how much is going on currently. Bringin’ back the bullet points.

• Uni uni uni. I constantly hate to bring up school and boring things like this up in my blog because there’s so much more exciting things happening but it’s just become such a dominate part of every day. I’ve had assessments after assessments (had a presentation today even – otherwise I would’ve blogged sooner) but we have Easter break in a week and a bit so hopefully things’ll be manageable right now.
• We’ve found a place to move to! And in fact, we’re moving there on Thursday. Everything is a mess right now, I should currently be packing, but we’re not moving far away at all so it’s easy.
• Saw Bombay Bicycle Club last Thursday night! Eleanor, Chrystal, Michael, Robbie and I went. They were phenomenal live, and played such a decent set length wise. If you ever get a chance to see them DEFINITELY do it.
• Chrystal turned 18 this week! So she’s been up, after Bombay we went to Hot Damn (mainly because it was also Jack’s birthday so we went to visit him), but also on Friday night we went out. It was a decent night for the most part, got to see Jess and Kara whom I hadn’t for a while. Ran into brilliant people like Garrett, Ben, Dave and such, and like Nate and then like Lachlan, Dylan, Pips and them, and even people from uni which was surreal. The boyf also turned up at some point which was lovely.
• The boyf is going fabulously, by the way. Like considering we’ve only been a ~couple~ a handful of weeks now, every thing becomes this victory that we’ve stayed together, considering both our pasts and the whole idea of publicly known relationships becoming so odd after everything last year. I don’t know man, I’m just really happy y’know?

There’s a lot of fun coming up too, so things are hectic right now but I’m also reasonably happy. Things’ll be better after I move, fo sho.

Black Bubblegum – The Dillinger Escape Plan

I have been so busy. I am a busy person.

Last week was uni orientation, so basically spent the week touring the campus and getting to know staff and stuff. There was this pub party organised by the student union, which is impressive when you consider that The Holidays played live. They were incredible, the local acts around here are getting a lot better.

There was also a cute house party for high school people before uni at my friends house. It was great, mainly due to deciding to sit on everyone all night. Poor Yannick was the longest victim.

Sunday, though, my friends Sunday… Soundwave 2012. The Mission in Motion, Four Year Strong, Bad Religion, bit of Lamb of God, Dillinger Escape Plan (so. fucking. good.), bits of Slipknot and System of a Down. All in the one day. Going with a group of energetic blokes was a bit of an odd choice – on one hand, got burly mates lookin’ after you, but on the other 5 seconds later they run off for the circle pits. But it was amazing, I could not have asked for a better day.

And then today, well, today my friends, I started university. I am a proper adult. One day down, it’s pretty good. Excited to get in the grit of it and get organised.

So if that isn’t the definition of a busy gal I don’t know what is.

Awkward – San Cisco

That, my friends, is a photo Chrystal took during the last song played by the Arctic Monkeys at the Enmore Theatre on Friday. Yep, that was bolded because MY GOD seeing them was such a big deal. Their show was so so so good, their setlist was full of great classics (Crying Lightning, I Bet That You Looked Good on the Dancefloor, Teddy Picker, Fluorescent Adolescent, Brianstorm), and all my favourites from the new record (Black Treacle, The Hellcat Spangled Shalalala, She’s Thunderstorms). Alex is incredible live, don’t let anyone tell you any different. They’re actually an incredibly talented group – Miles Kane made some fun appearances in there too. The only mildly annoying thing was where we were standing – it was close enough (whenever you take photos at concerts it always seems like you’re so much further away than you are) but to our left were couples constantly making out, and to our right were a collection of 5 or 6 40 year olds trying to re-live their youth and open a moshpit.

Basically, there is a reason why I love this band so much. They were so amazing.

So once again, we’re faced with a new year. Every new year people start to have hope for a new future, change, all that kind of stuff. Personally, I don’t really care. But January 1st is always a good day to look back at the past year and remember all the experiences – 2011 being a very hectic, emotional, draining, busy and generally fun year.

Last year I was (un)fortunate enough to be home on New Year and posted a reflection of 2010. This year I’m a bit luckier and will be celebrating that Saturday, so I’ve queued the world’s longest blog post to go over the past year and some of it’s highlights. It’s crazy not only how many things happened, and not only how often my hair changes, but how different it was to 2010 and how much I’ve grown up.

So here we have it, my friends, 2011!

Aw, look at me, so nostalgic. 2011 was immense. 2012 will bring a lot of firsts too – university, (hopefully) new friends and many of great new experiences. But more importantly, how was your 2011?

Peter Pan – Jinja Safari

This was last Friday, the girls in the last photo and I went to see Jinja Safari play, a kind of end-of-exams celebration. It was great because before we went to the concert we went to eat sushi and a few members of the band were at the same restaurant. Just a bit of fun, more or less.

Fantastic show, though. Probably one of my favourite Australian acts out, too. They played a lot from their EP which I really appreciated seeing as its the only stuff of theirs I have, and a lot of different stuff too. Even cracked out the acrobatics and the lead guy climbed around the stage with his vuvuzella (fucking vuvuzellas). The supports were iffy but y’know. It was just a brilliant night.
